There's a guy in my Da Vinci section that makes me mad. He's intelligent enough, but he makes me mad. We're talking about Leonardo da Vinci and his identity as a scientist/engineer but as well as the pervading religious beliefs of the Renaissance at the time. And this guy, this graduate EE student is always harping on the fact that da Vinci's emphasis on science is incompatible with his possible religious beliefs.. and I quote "On one hand he's a man of empiricism, rationality, and science, yet he still seems to retreat into religious themes." THIS MAKES ME MAD! I want to respond to his coursework post, but alas I'm afraid that'll make me seem like an angry maniac (we're only posting questions, not responding to them). BUT SERIOUSLY, SCIENCE, EMPIRICISM, AND RATIONALITY ARE NOT IN OPPOSITION TO RELIGION. THERE ARE TONS OF BRILLIANT ENGINEERS AND SCIENTISTS OUT THERE THAT ARE LEADING OR TRYING TO LEAD THEIR LIVES AS FAITHFUL CHRISTIANS.
Geez. Why can't people get that through their heads.
